“The Cost of Living & the Cost of Dying………why we can’t afford to ignore the inevitable”


Members of a seven-person panel chaired by Micheál O Muircheartaigh, the RTE radio sports commentator, spoke briefly and then fielded questions during a successful session last more than two hours.

The panel comprised:

• Des Stone, Superintendent Community Welfare Officer
• Gus Nichols, Irish Funeral Directors Association
• Eamon Donnelly, Retirement Planning Council of Ireland
• Michael Finucane, Solicitor
• Tadhg Daly, Nursing Homes Ireland
• George McCullough, CEO Dublin Cemeteries Committee
• Philip Smith, Arthur Cox  Solicitors (Pensions)

The proceedings of this session, and those following in Galway, Limerick and Cork, as well as other towns and cities, will be considered as part of the Report being compiled on the Forum on End of Life.
