Kathleen McLoughlin
At Forum 2011, Kathleen McLoughlin, with Marie Richardson, led the workshop on Preparing the Public.
She has worked as Head of Education,
Research and Professional Development at Milford Care Centre, Limerick
since 2007. Prior to joining Milford,
she worked in the HSE as a member of the National Quality and Risk Team. In
addition to driving the education and research function at Milford, Kathleen
has a particular interest in the area of health promoting palliative care and
has completed her PhD thesis in Psychology at NUI Maynooth entitled “Identifying
and changing attitudes toward palliative care: an exploratory study.” Her
interest in this field has led to the development of Ireland’s first
compassionate communities pilot project in North-West Limerick and a successful
bid for Milford Care Centre to host the 3 International Public Health
and Palliative Care Conference in Limerick in 2013. Kathleen is married, has
two children and lives in Offaly.
