Marie Lynch
Marie
Lynch, who led the Carers workshop at Forum 2011, joined the IHF in January 2007 in the new post of Programme Development
Manager.
Before
joining the IHF, she worked in healthcare management within the voluntary
disability sector.Following
her career as an occupational therapist, Marie worked as Regional Director with
the Irish Wheelchair Association for seven years. She served as Chairperson
of the Disability Federation of Ireland.
Her
brief includes managing the IHF extending access programme.This programme seeks to ensure that
palliative care is available for all people with life-limiting diseases, in all
care settings.
The
initiatives currently emanating from the programme are the roll out of three
pilot / action research projects seeking to include palliative interventions
within respiratory, heart failure and dementia services.
She
is also supporting dedicated information services for carers of people who have
a life-limiting illness. Another area of her work is seeking to enhance primary
care responses in the area of palliative care.
Marie
is on the Board of Care Alliance Ireland.
