Marie Richardson

Marie Richardson, with Kathleen McLoughlin, led the Preparing the Public workshop.

Marie's background is in Sociology and Social Work. She has worked for over 30 years with statutory and non-statutory agencies in a variety of settings and has experience in family therapy, psychoanalytic counselling, group work and couple therapy.

She is involved in education, workshops and training for health care professionals and the wider public. For the past eight years she has worked in Milford Care Centre. There she is the Principal Social Worker, managing a team of social workers and volunteers who offer a range of therapies and bereavement supports to palliative patients and their families in the Mid West Region.

Since January 2011, Marie has also been the Compassionate Communities Project Coordinator for a Milford Care Centre-led pilot initiative in the north west of Limerick City. Her dialogue with the public in their communities has afforded opportunities to put Health Promoting Palliative Care principles into practice, creating a partnership of shared responses to death, dying, care and loss.
