Marie Richardson
Marie Richardson, with Kathleen McLoughlin, led the Preparing the Public workshop.
Marie's
background is in Sociology and Social Work.
She has worked for over 30 years with statutory and non-statutory agencies in a
variety of settings and has experience in family therapy, psychoanalytic
counselling, group work and couple therapy.
She is involved in education, workshops
and training for health care professionals and the wider public. For the past
eight years she has worked in Milford Care Centre. There she is the Principal Social Worker, managing a team of social workers and
volunteers who offer a range of therapies and bereavement supports to
palliative patients and their families in the Mid West Region.
Since January 2011, Marie has also been
the Compassionate Communities Project Coordinator for a Milford Care Centre-led
pilot initiative in the north west of Limerick City. Her dialogue with the
public in their communities has afforded opportunities to put Health Promoting
Palliative Care principles into practice, creating a partnership of shared
responses to death, dying, care and loss. For more detail please refer to the
